About this place
Simmering pork loin tempura and sliced onions in a sweet-savory house warishita broth, then folding in softly set beaten egg over rice, the Efu Don is the shop's warm signature. Resembling a katsudon while preserving the airy crispness of fried tempura batter, the bowl comes accompanied by soup and pickles for a hearty meal.
Tempura anchors the wider menu, with generous options spanning both rice bowls and full set meals. The assorted tempura teishoku features two black tiger prawns alongside Japanese whiting (kisu), squid, and seasonal vegetables, with a choice of standard miso soup or pork tonjiru. Guests can also choose from bowls tailored to their appetite—such as the premium tokujo tendon, a colorful tendon, or a mixed kakiage bowl—while weekdays bring a budget-friendly lunch set that includes a small side dish, rice, soup, and pickles.
During the cooler months from November through March, the seasonal hotpot-style udon dishes are well worth keeping in mind. Offerings like miso chanko udon and kimchi jjigae udon can be finished with a zosui rice set, which turns the remaining broth into a comforting porridge so not a drop goes to waste.
The calm dining room is arranged with table seating, making it comfortable for solo diners taking lunch or families sharing a leisurely dinner. A side menu featuring items like itawasa fish cake, jumbo prawn tempura maki rolls, and roast duck can be paired with beer or a highball, making the shop equally handy for a full meal or a relaxed drink.
